Other previous owners of the Teton Valley News included Vern Craver in the 1990s and Fred and Elizabeth McCabe of Jackson, Wyoming. Pioneer Newspapers, Inc. is a private, family-owned publishing business. Jim Scripps, who died in 1986, formed Pioneer Newspapers in 1974.The Scripps family has a long history in newspapers, starting with E.W. Scripps in the middle 1800s in the Midwest. Pioneer holds a majority of weekly and daily newspapers in Utah, Montana, Oregon, Washington and Idaho including the Standard-Journal in Rexburg, the Idaho State Journal in Pocatello, the Idaho Press-Tribune in Nampa and the Bozeman Daily Chronicle.
